Year 1 have had a busy few weeks! The children have been thoroughly enjoying their art projects. They worked together to create a collaborative spider, painting it black and bronze to give it a metallic effect. It looks fantastic! They also painted some beautiful blossom trees to mark the start of spring.

In History, Year 1 have begun learning about Kings and Queens. So far, they have explored the current Royal Family tree and looked at a timeline of significant Kings and Queens from the past, discovering lots of interesting facts.

In Maths, they have been exploring length and height. The children had a great time comparing different lengths and using cubes to measure the length and height of objects around the school.

In English, Year 1 have been focusing on their class book, The Odd Egg. They have been describing the eggs laid by the characters in the story and making predictions about what the animals inside the eggs might look like. They also made congratulations cards for the animals, once the eggs hatched!

In PE, the children have been enjoying tag rugby sessions with Connor from All Stars Sport. They've been learning new skills and having fun during their lessons, developing their teamwork and coordination.

This week, we had a class party to say goodbye to one of our friends. She is off on an exciting new adventure and we will all miss her very much!

It’s been a wonderful few weeks, and we look forward to what’s coming next in Year 1!
