Friday 2nd May

We have had the best week to kick off the Summer term.

Our eggs arrived on Monday morning. We set them up in their incubator and made sure that the brooder box was made up and ready for them once they had hatched.
We have also discussed and labelled the different parts of a chick, predicted what might be in the egg using sentences and pictures, as well as writing a list of what we will need to look after them.
We now have 9 chicks - 3 girls and 6 boys. One egg looks like it's pipping but it's yet to show any signs of hatching.

Our Cherry Blossom tress have fully flowered, so we spent a very mindful afternoon sketching them using crayons, chalks and pastels out on the yard.

We have been doing lots of work on 2D and 3D shapes. We've made pictures out of shapes, seeing if we can stack, roll or slide the 3D (or 'chunky') shapes and going on a shape hunt outside and through school to look for shapes in the environment.

This afternoon, we had a great time printing our 2D shape pictures using the flat faces of the 3D shapes - this wasn't as easy as it looked!

We have been looking after our outdoor spaces by watering our pots that have grown so much over the Easter holidays and pruning the daffodils that have finished flowering in the raised beds.
