We’ve had a fantastic week here in Year 5! Everyone has returned to school full of smiles and enthusiasm, ready to dive into learning.
In science, we kicked off our new topic, 'Materials and Their Properties'. The children explored a variety of materials, grouping them based on properties such as strength, flexibility, and texture. They then designed and conducted their own investigations, showing great curiosity and teamwork.
As part of our new DT topic, 'Bridges', the class had an exciting time learning how to reinforce beam structures to make them stronger. Using different materials and techniques, they experimented with creative ways to improve the stability of their designs. It was wonderful to see their problem-solving skills in action!
Ask your child about their favorite part of the week—whether it was discovering surprising material properties or building stronger beams. We can’t wait to see the amazing bridges they’ll create as the term progresses.
Have a fantastic weekend!
