Year 1 have had a brilliant start to their final half term together and what a busy week it has been!

In English, the children explored adjectives to describe how a character felt at the beginning of a story compared to the end. They thought carefully about the changes in feelings and used some wonderful vocabulary in their writing.

In Maths, the focus has been on equal groupings and using arrays. The children have enjoyed using practical resources to help them visualise and solve problems.

As they reached the end of their Geography unit, Year 1 thought about the different human and physical features of the North East of England. Each child then chose a feature to describe, showing what they had remembered from their learning.

In RE, the children reflected on what it means to be sorry. They shared the story of Levi and wrote thoughtful letters to Jesus, imagining they were Levi himself.

Art lessons were full of creativity as the children completed their Colour Splash unit. They explored the work of Clarice Cliff and designed their own plates in her style, using bold colours and patterns.

PE was full of energy and teamwork as the children worked in pairs to complete challenges involving balancing, throwing, catching and dribbling. It was lovely to see everyone supporting each other and having fun.

Well done, Year 1 – a fantastic start to the half term!
