Year 1 have had a fantastic first week back after the Easter break. The children have settled in brilliantly and jumped straight into their learning with lots of enthusiasm.

In English, we have been reading our focus text Lubna and Pebble. Inspired by Lubna, the children created cosy beds for their own pet pebbles, using their imaginations and lots of creative materials. They then used expanded noun phrases to describe their pebble homes, coming up with some fantastic ideas.

In Maths, we have been learning all about capacity and volume. The children had lots of fun using rice to explore and compare the capacity of different containers – there was lots of careful pouring and measuring!

In Art, we have been exploring primary colours. The children really enjoyed experimenting with mixing colours to discover which secondary colours they could create. There was lots of excitement as they watched the colours change before their eyes.

It’s been a lovely start to the term and we can’t wait for more fun and learning next week!
