We’ve had an exciting and busy time in Year 2.

In English, the children have been working on sequencing events in a story. This skill helps them understand the structure of a narrative and improves their storytelling abilities. We’ve been practicing identifying what happens first, next, and last, using words like "first," "then," and "finally." It’s a great way for them to grasp how stories unfold and build their comprehension skills.

Our Maths lessons have focused on learning to find the next multiple of ten in a sequence, which is an essential skill for their number sense and understanding place value. They’re enjoying the challenge and are already making great progress with jumping forward by tens!

In RE, we’ve been exploring the lives and writings of the four Gospel writers: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John and how they were similar and different.

In Science, we’ve been investigating metals and exploring their properties. The children are excited to learn about the different types of metals around us, how they feel, and how they react to being bent or heated. This hands-on investigation is helping them develop their scientific inquiry skills as they ask questions and make observations.

In Geography, we’ve been learning about different climates around the world, focusing on hot and cold climates. Next week the children will compare places like deserts and the Arctic, exploring how the weather affects both plants and animals, and how people adapt to these extreme conditions.

In art, we have been using simple marks to show texture in our drawings using techniques such as stippling, cross hatching a circular scribbling.

Have a lovely weekend and see you all on Monday.
