This week, Year 1 had a fantastic time working with their special friends in Year 6. They teamed up to create sock puppet aliens during their English lesson and together, they let their imaginations run wild. Next, they will describe their aliens and then write a creative story about a lost alien—how exciting!
In Maths, Year 1 revisited the concept of place value, focusing on tens and ones. The children had great fun practising how to identify and represent numbers between 10 and 20 by breaking them down into tens and ones.
During PE, they continued their team-building unit, putting their leadership skills to the test. Without speaking a word, they guided their teammates around the hall to collect various items, all while working together to solve challenges.
In RE, the children reflected on scripture about Jesus in the temple. They also explored how we conclude Mass and how we are called to serve the Lord in our daily lives.
In Art, Year 1 began collaborating on a class sculpture, which they will continue to work on over the coming weeks. It’s wonderful to see them working together creatively!
Finally, in Geography, Year 1 learned about the type of settlement we live in. They discussed how our school is located in the suburbs of Newcastle Upon Tyne, and what makes a suburban area unique.
It’s been a week full of learning, creativity, and teamwork, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store next week!
