Year 1 Weekly Blog: Aliens, Art, and Amazing Visitors! Year 1 have had an action-packed week full of creativity, curiosity, and exciting discoveries!
In English, the children were thrilled to investigate a friendly alien who seems to be on the loose! It all began with the discovery of a mysterious crash site, sparking their imaginations and leading to some fantastic questions. The children created “Lost Alien” posters to help track down Beegu, the alien, and even wrote clear commands to guide anyone who might find her. The excitement in the classroom was out of this world!
They had great fun with the music service, during their Music Workshop and they loved making different sounds with the instruments in lots of different ways. They were also excellent singers!
In RE, the focus shifted to exploring special people in our parish community. The highlight of the week was a visit from Jo, who shared stories about the amazing people in our local parish and the incredible jobs they do. The children were captivated as they learned about the importance of these roles and the difference they make.
In Art, Year 1 took their creativity to the next level by experimenting with paper to create stunning 3D sculptures. They explored different ways to fold, twist, and shape paper to bring their ideas to life, resulting in some truly impressive designs!
They have enjoyed their new unit in PE, where they have been doing some teamwork skills- a favourite so far has been the parachute!
In Computing sessions, they have been working on algorithms and this week had to become robots, following Mrs Summersby's algorithm to draw a figure with five arms and three legs!
What an exciting and inspiring week it has been for Year 1! We can’t wait to see what adventures next week brings.
