Year 1 have had a fantastic couple of weeks! They’ve really enjoyed spending time with their special friends and taking part in lots of exciting activities.
As part of European Languages Day, the children explored art from around the world and created their own beautiful pieces inspired by different artists. This week, they also took part in some shared reading to celebrate Book Day — it was wonderful to see everyone enjoying stories together.
In Art, Year 1 have been using their knowledge of lines to create stunning seascapes, letting music guide their creativity. In Maths, they’ve been building on their understanding of place value and learning to use symbols to represent greater than, less than and equal to.
In English, the children have begun retelling the story of Cave Baby. Mrs Summersby has been so impressed with their fantastic vocabulary choices and improving handwriting!
In PE, they have continued their stretch and movement sessions, showing great focus and coordination. Meanwhile, in RE, Year 1 have been thinking about all the places where they belong and what belonging means to them.
It’s been a busy and brilliant few weeks — well done, Year 1!
