Friday 21st October 2022

This week in Reception Class we have been learning about the numbers 1, 2 and 3. We have been looking at different representations of each number, hunting for object's around school that are grouped into these numbers and making our own games up which involves collecting items that make up these amounts. This is helping the children to 'subitise' amounts which is where they can identify an amount without having to count each object out individually.

We have been focusing on segmenting and blending words within the classroom and talking about which sound is at the start of a word, in the middle and at the end.

Our new sounds in phonics this week have been h, b, f, ff, i and ll.

On Thursday morning, Reception Class and their special friends in Year 5 invited the rest of the school to share in a moment of collective worship. They were welcomed into our school community by every other pupil from Years 1-6 beautifully. They then went on to share the same liturgy with the families from both our class and Year 5 on Friday morning - It is safe to say there wasn't a dry eye in the hall and we couldn't be prouder of each and every child for their beautiful words and singing.
