It has been another productive week in Year 5!

Everyone worked so hard on their extended writing this week, with some beautiful narratives inspired by the short film 'The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr Morris Lessmore' being produced.

In R.E, we looked closely at the Scripture from Hosea 11:1-4 and made links to the poem 'Footprints in the Sand'. We reflected on how both of these texts made us feel and created a liturgical dance to the song 'Footprints in the Sand' by Leona Lewis. We worked in small groups to create powerful actions for the words we thought were the most significant in the lyrics. We look forward to sharing this dance with our families at our Special Friend Liturgical Prayer Celebration before half term.

We made some fantastic links between different areas of our curriculum this week. In Maths. we have been focusing on interpreting data in different formats- such as charts and line graphs- we transferred this skill set over to some data work in our Computing lesson. We were asked to find specific information using the filter control on data software. We talked about how this would be an efficient method of finding the data that was required and tried to make links to jobs where this may be necessary-we thought Mrs Day and Mrs Lightfoot might use the filtering skill a lot!

We have also began playing the recorder in our music lessons. Mrs Morris was incredibly impressed with our control over the instrument and our understanding of reading musical notation.
