Friday 10th November

This week in Reception Class we have been learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali. We have made our own Diwali lamps after hearing the stories of Rama and Sita & Lakshmi and the Clever Washerwoman. We have made Rangolis in lots of different forms around the classroom, which has also supported our learning on circles and triangles in maths. We have written a list of what happens over the 5 days of Diwali and discussed what festivals and holidays we know of that have similarities to Diwali. 
We have looked at the artist Kandinsky this week and made our own abstract pictures using circles and triangles. The children have also enjoyed investigating with our Counting Collections equipment after enjoying our first session on Friday, last week. We are looking forward to trying out the routine again this Friday!
