This week in Reception Class, we have been continuing our learning about Oceans. The children were very interested to discover last week that the Blue Whale is the largest animal on earth! So we used that as a focus point of our learning this week. We have learnt about lots of different types of whales, what they eat, where and how they travel across the oceans. We have discovered about their blowholes and what they are used for and that their tales are called flukes. We listened to some recorded whale songs, but didn't think it would be making it into the charts anytime soon!

We have also been finding ways to unfreeze lots of marine creatures, writing messages with white wax crayons to be water coloured over and making jellyfish.

Nicola and her Rockpool School came to visit us on Thursday. We enjoyed learning about what marine creatures live within rockpools and the environment that comes with it. Thank you, Nicola for a fun filled morning!
