Friday 3rd March

Year 2 began the week with a visit to the Life Science Centre.

We learnt  about many different aspects of space and how to survive in space.

During our workshop we were given three challenges. The first was to create a healthy breakfast for an astronaut choosing from a range of dried and dehydrated food. Our second challenge was to look at a range of materials and decide which would be the best one to make a pair of gloves for an astronaut. Finally, we were asked to put on a pair of gloves and carry out some space tasks.

One of the activities we took part in at the Life Science Centre was the science show. We learnt that cold water sinks in room temperature water and hot water floats in room temperature water due to its density. With this in mind, we decided to carry out our own floating and sinking investigation. We decided  to find out if different objects made form the same material would always sink or always float.

Our World Book Day Window was great fun to put together. The BFG was one of our favourite books and we loved the friendship between The BFG and Sophie. We really enjoyed using different materials to create our very own Dream Jars.
