This morning, Gavin from the 'Rockpool School' team came into class with lots of creatures that you would find in a rockpool and the surrounding waters. We saw starfish, whelks, dog whelks, sea snails, sea anemones, crabs and hermit crabs.
Gavin began our morning by reading the story, 'Sharing a Shell' by Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks and explained that he had brought some of the same creatures with him for us to meet.
We created a carousel for the children to work through over the session, with a rockpool station, a rockpool making area, some under water colouring in and some lego & mobilo marine life building. Each group got to try each activity and everyone was brilliant when handling the live animals. We had kind hands and very good listening ears.
We had such a brilliant morning exploring in the classroom rockpools!
